Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello on Sunday evening revealed that he started planning for who will succeed him the very day he was sworn in for the second term as governor of the state.

The governor stated this while addressing newsmen in Lokoja, the state capital, immediately the Governor-Elect, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, was declared winner of yesterday’s off-cycle governorship election in the state, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He noted that anything that has a beginning must also have an end.

Governor Bello also appreciated the governor-elect and the deputy governor-elect, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo for making themselves available to lead the state, at this critical time.

He expressed belief that the duo will not disappoint the good people of Kogi.

Bello also said that he will make himself available to serve in any capacity in the country, after the curtain of his tenure is drawn.

In his acceptance speech, Alh. Ahmed Ododo, expressed gratitude to God almighty for being elected as Kogi’s new governor, in what he described as a ‘keenly-contested’ election.

Ododo noted that it is a rare privilege for him to be elected to serve as not only the governor of the state, but the ‘chief servant’ of the people of Kogi.

He called on his co-contestants to join his incoming government to chart a progressive cause for the state.

Ododo then applauded Governor Bello for his sacrifice towards the progress of the state, promising that he (the outgoing Kogi governor) will continue to be a critical stakeholder in the state affairs.
