Gov Abdulrazaq Hails PR Practitioners for Spearheading Country’s Reputation, Climate Change  Efforts

Gov Abdulrazaq Hails PR Practitioners for Spearheading Country’s Reputation, Climate Change  Efforts

 

Governor Abdul Rahman Abdul Razaq of Kwara State has charged Public Relations Practitioners not to relent in their efforts at restoring the dignity and value of Nigeria.

 

The Governor gave the charge in Ilorin, while flagging off Road Walk tagged  “Diamond Road Walk for Economic Transformation”, in commemoration of the sixtieth anniversary of the establishment of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations in Nigeria.

 

The Governor represented by the Secretary to the Kwara State Government Professor Saba Jibril Mamma, noted with delight that the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations have been making tremendous contributions in enhancing the reputation of the country and spear heading the inculcation of proper orientation in the  citizenry to pave way for the nation’s accelerated development.

 

In her remark, the NIPR Council member and Fellow of the Institute, Professor Saudat Salah Abdul Baqi who said the Institute was established in nineteen  sixty three and attained the status of chartered in nineteen ninety to register members, set parameters of knowledge to acquire to qualify to practice, regulate the practice and development of the PR Profession as well as monitor professional conducts through an established Code of Ethics, amongst others.

 

The NIPR Council member explained that it is imperative for PR practitioners to always uphold professionalism, ethics, integrity and deploy tailor made communication strategies to navigate the daunting multi faceted challenges impacting their practice environment and praised Governor Abdul Rasaq for his government’s support to the NIPR.

Professor Saudat Abdul Baqi pointed out that the Governor’s leadership has not only strengthened the relationship of NIPR with the government, but elevated the standards of public relations practice in the state.

 

She disclosed  that the Institute would also be holding a colloquium during the month long diamond celebration and enjoined the people of the state to  be part of the chapter’s  programmes lined up for the celebration.

 

Earlier, the acting chairman of the NIPR in the state, Mr. Ishola Gbenga Emmanuel had expressed delight over the turn out of members for the Road Walk, pointing out that the NIPR would continue to collaborate with the state government in its bid at fast tracking the development of the state.

 

The Diamond Road Walk, which attracted top government functionaries, fellows of the Institute, Media Executives ,Public Relations Practitioners and students of Mass Communication in the tertiary Institutions in the state was rounded up with the symbolic planting of sixty economic trees at the  newly commissioned flower Garden in Ilorin and Korowa in Ilorin East Local Government Area.
