The Presidency has clarified that the invitation of Ghali Na’Abba, a former speaker of the House of Representative, by the Department of State Security (DSS) is not about his comments that appeared to be critical of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Na’Abba was invited by the DSS to present himself at the its headquarters in Abuja by 12 noon today Monday. This came after the former speaker, at the unveiling of the agenda of the National Consultative Front (NCF), a new political movement, accused the Buhari-led administration of incompetence on addressing the challenges of insecurity and unemployment.

But in a statement issued on Sunday night, Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, said findings by the Presidency revealed that Na’Abba’s invitation was unconnected with his “alleged irresponsible utterances” against Buhari.

Shehu added that the former speaker’s comment did not catch the attention of the President, accused Na’Abba of seeking political relevance..

“Our findings have revealed that his invitation has nothing to do with the alleged irresponsible utterances which in any case did not catch the attention of the Presidency, or of any serious politician for that matter,” he said.

“There are serious politicians who talk, and the Presidency respond, because such politicians throw jibes which must get attention.

“Flash in the pan politicians and those who fabricate political relevance don’t bother anyone.

“We advise Na’Abba to distance the Presidency from the situation he has found himself and sort himself out accordingly.”
