FG to Establish 50,000 Centers to of Almajiri, Out-of-School Children System

The National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children has plan to establish 50,000 centers designed in its quest to reintegrate almajiri students and out-of-school children back into its new school programs.

The Executive Secretary of the commission, Hon. Sha’aban Sharada disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the PRNigeria Abuja Center on Monday.

He noted that the integration of Qur’anic education and skills acquisition system will forestall Almajiri syndrome and curtailed the number of out of school children roaming the streets.

The former Kano State house member said with the commencement of Almajiri and out-of-school programmes by the commission, graduates of the Qur’anic schools would be given recognised certificate like their counterparts in the conventional schools around the country and can be gainfully employed

“We are also integrate school feeding programme to encourage the pupils. This will give us more attention. We will also employ over 200,000 by 2027 as either facilitators, teachers, and other skills and unskilled staff in the commission’s designated schools around the country” stated the executive secretary. self-reliance, critical thinking skills, vocational skill Islamic knowledge for those in almagiris.

“We’re also adopting an acceleration program into the system. This program compresses the major learning subjects from Junior Secondary Class 1 to 3 into a 9-month basic learning program. This will enable pupils to read and write basic Western knowledge, such as adding numbers and writing simple sentences.

“We hope that if someone can memorize 114 chapters of the Quran, acquiring basic skills should not be difficult.

“We believe this program will discourage them from engaging in any criminal activity.
As the Committee of Professorship report, estimated 10 million almajiri children 3 years ago, so we project their number to be around 33 million now, in addition to 20 million out-of-school children. This is a tremendous number that the Commission is trying to reduce.

“We urge all members of society to support this program to reduce the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

In his remarks, the Editor-in-Chief/Publisher of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, Mallam Yushau Shuaib, commended the team for its well-developed strategies to achieve this initiative. He however pledged his support to the programs for national benefit.
