In a continued effort to ensure the fair and transparent distribution of grains to the most vulnerable Nigerians, the Federal Government’s joint security and anti-corruption agencies have been closely monitoring the process across the country.

PRNigeria gathered that the ICPC-led monitoring team visited Ekiti South East Local Government Area of Ekiti State to oversee the distribution of the allocated grains.

The beneficiaries included artisans, market women, youth groups, traditional councils, religious leaders, and boarding schools – all identified as the most vulnerable members of the community.

The monitoring exercise was carried out in the presence of representatives from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Amotekun Corps.

“We are pleased to report that the distribution of grains in Ekiti South East LGA was carried out in a fair and transparent manner, ensuring that the allocated resources reached the intended beneficiaries,” a member of the monitoring team disclosed.

This monitoring exercise is part of the Federal Government’s commitment to address the issue of food shortage in the country.

Last week, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced the allocation of 20 trucks of rice to each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“The government is taking proactive steps to ensure that the most vulnerable members of our society have access to essential food items,” Idris stated.

“We appeal to the state governors to continue to work with the relevant agencies to effectively distribute these grains to the people who need them the most.”

The ICPC-led monitoring team will continue to visit other local government areas in Ekiti State to oversee the distribution process and ensure its fairness and transparency
