The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued an invitation to Obadiah Mailafia, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) who alleged that the leader of Boko Haram is a Northern governor.

Mailafia had said, in an interview with an Abuja-based radio station on Monday, that one of the northern governors is the commander of Boko Haram in Nigeria.

According to him, the insurgents leveraged on the lockdown occasioned by coronavirus to distribute arms and ammunition across the country.

“We have met with some of their high commanders, they have sat down with us not once, not twice,” he had said in the interview.

“They told us that one of the northern governors is the commander of Boko Haram in Nigeria. Boko Haram and the bandits are one and the same.

“During this lockdown their planes were moving up and down as if there was no lockdown.”

Days after the claim, the DSS invited the former CBN deputy governor to appear at noon today, Wednesday, at its office in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

“Yes, it is true,” Mailafia confirmed the invitation to The Punch.

“The DSS invited me to appear in their Jos office tomorrow by noon.”
