Nigerian music star has opened up about mourning his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi, who died on October 31, 2022. It was gathered that the toddler drowned in his father’s swimming pool at their Banana Island home.

Ever since the death of his son, the singer who is known to be a bubbly person and very active on social media went AWOL. The singer cancelled all his lined-up shows and tours except his performance at the closing ceremony of the 2023 FIFA World Cup.

In an interview with CNN African Voices, the afrobeat star revealed that Ifeanyi’s death was a loss he and his wife shouldn’t bear.

However, the singer who just released his highly anticipated fourth studio album, Timeless, stated that he had finished his latest project before his son’s death.

The multiple-award-winning artiste further opened up about grieving when his son died. Davido mentioned that it was the love and support he got from people all over the world that helped him overcome his loss.

Davido said, “One thing that has helped was the support from everybody. Everybody knows that Chioma and I didn’t deserve that. If anybody in the world kind of deserves it, it shouldn’t be us. Personally, the support I got from people was one of the things that helped me stand up again. This has shown me that I was born to do music.

“I remember I couldn’t open my Instagram for like three weeks. One day, I just checked it and I saw messages from every kind of person in the world. From politicians to sportsmen to presidents. That was one thing that made me strong enough. Get back in the studio and do what I love. I was like ‘you’re fine, you see everybody is rooting for you.’ That was one thing that really made me strong enough to stand up again, get back in the studio and do what I love.

“That’s what we’re here to do, that’s what we were brought to do in this world. I’m just ready to get back, I’m ready to just go back on the road. A lot of things are going to be different.”
