Elder statesman and business magnate, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, has added his voice to calls for Nigeria’s change from presidential to parliamentary system of democratic governance.

Alhaji Dantata, 92, gave his views on the matter during a meeting with some members of the House of Representatives, who paid him a courtesy visit on Thursday in Kano.

The lawmakers were led by the Minority, Kingsley Chinda.

“Thank you very much for coming to my house: I pray for the success of this gigantic movement.

“Parliamentary system is better for this country as it is cheaper while the presidential arrangement is too expensive,” Alhaji Dantata said.

“I pray you have the support of your colleagues and pray Allah should give you wisdom and guide you to achieve this noble job in assisting this country,” he added.

Recall that on Wednesday, at least 60 House of Representatives declared their support for a return to parliamentary system.

The lawmakers announced this during the inauguration of the Constitutional Review Committee at the National Assembly.
