China’s Hubei province and its city of Wuhan has reported no new cases of the deadly coronavirus for the first time since the outbreak of the virus disease.

The Chinese Health Ministry confirmed on Thursday that results over the past 24 hours showed 34 new cases, all of which came from people arriving abroad.

According to Daily Mail, out of the 34 imported infections, Beijing accounted for 21 cases, a daily record for the city, which brings the total number of confirmed cases in mainland China so far to 80,928, including 3,245 deaths.

In the central province of Hubei however, there were eight new deaths, with Wuhan accounting for six of the fatalities.

Recall that the covid-19 pandemic was first identified in 2019 in Wuhan, the central capital of Hubei province in China, and has since spread globally.
