The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has stated that it is not part of the Federal Government’s delegation to the United Nations Climate Change Summit, also known as COP28, held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

This was made known in a tweet on the official NLC X page on Thursday.

The statement titled, ‘COP 28: FACT TRACK’ read, “NLC was not part of Federal Government’s Delegation to COP28.

“NLC Climate Change Department has been involved in COP activities long before now. All our participation in Climate Change activities are fully driven and funded independently.

“Check Through the Federal Government List, NLC was never mentioned on that list, Verify. BEWARE OF MISCHIEF-MAKERS,” the statement read in part.

This comes shortly after photos of the NLC president, Joe Ajaero, at the COP28 went viral on social media, leading to reports that the FG funded him.

FG’s delegation to COP28 recently caused a stir after it was revealed that 1,411 Nigerians participated in the event.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has, however, stated that only 422 were sponsored by the FG.
