Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has officially defected to the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The PDP made the disclosure on Friday via its verified Twitter handle.
“Breaking News! The governor of Edo State, H. E. @GovernorObaseki has defected to our great Party, the @OfficialPDPNig. The declaration was made this afternoon at the state Secretariat of our party in Benin city, Edo State. Power to the people. #EdoIsPDP. @officialKolaO,” PDP tweeted on Friday.

The governors defection has confirmed the wide speculation of his movement to the main opposition, in a bid to seek re-election in the September governorship election in the state.
Recall the PDP postponed its scheduled governorship primary election to Tuesday June 23.
