Many houses have been destroyed in an attack by Boko Haram terrorists in Dapchi community in Bursari LGA of Yobe State.

The insurgents were said to have invaded the community at about 7pm on Monday according to local residents.

A General Hospital in which patients were said to be receiving treatment and a palace of a Dapchi District Head were burnt by the insurgents.

During the attack, however, an air force jet was deployed to the town, alongside men of the Nigerian army to engage the insurgents, a resident, Bala Bukar told The Cable.

“The military and the insurgents are currently in a hot exchange of fire. Right now as I am talking to you, they are throwing bombs everywhere,” Bukar said at the time of the attack on Monday night.

“The insurgents are currently occupying the town. But most of the residents have fled.”

Another eyewitness said many residents in the town fled for their lives to safety in neighbouring communities while some have been reportedly missing and separated from their families.
