A 63-year-old man was shot dead in the Philippines after threatening village officials and police with a scythe at a coronavirus checkpoint, police said on Saturday. A police report said the man is believed to have been drunk when he threatened village officials and police manning the checkpoint in the town of Nasipit in the southern province of Agusan del Norte on Thursday. According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth II will give a rare televised address on tonight to address the coronavirus pandemic. It will be only the fourth time the Queen has made a special broadcast. The last one being in 2002 following the death of the Queen Mother. A coronavirus patient has been discharged at the Infectious Disease Hospital IDH in Yaba, Lagos, bringing the total discharge patients to 24 in the state. Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the disclosure at a press briefing on Saturday. Lagos State Government on Monday discharged five coronavirus patients at the Infectious Disease Centre IDC, Yaba Mainland Hospital. This brings to eight the total number of discharged patients from the Centre. The patients who had been quarantined at the isolation centre for weeks looked stable and unruffled. Although, the discharged patients preferred annonimity, they expressed joy and satisfaction over the treatments they received. While thanking the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his support and proactiveness, they pleaded that the workers at the Centre should be given life insurance.
