Inmates have reportedly set the Sapele Correctional Service Centre on fire because 25 inmates were granted amnesty by the state government while only three persons were released. Treasury House, as the building is called, is located beside the Federal Capital Territory FCT Police Command in Garki, Abuja. Maola Shopping Mall in the Ebute Ero Market at Idumota, Lagos State has been gutted by fire. As at the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire was unknown but shops 35 and 36 in the mall were strongly affected by the fire.
