Anambra State Police Command has launched a manhunt for suspected kidnappers who murdered a young boy after abducting him alongside his two sisters in Amansea community.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, in a statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Friday, described the act as “heartless and barbaric” and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.

A viral video circulating on social media shows the gruesome aftermath of the abduction, sparking outrage and grief among residents. While details of the incident remain sketchy, police say the boy was killed in captivity while his sisters were taken away by the gang.

CP Orutugu has directed operatives of the State Intelligence Department to identify and locate the surviving victim to assist in ongoing investigations. The Command is urging members of the public to remain calm but vigilant, and to provide credible information that could lead to the swift arrest of the suspects.

The police chief reiterated his administration’s commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state, assuring that the safety of lives and property remains a constitutional priority for the Command.
