A joint police operation between the Anambra and Kaduna State Commands has led to the arrest of a fugitive suspected of involvement in a kidnapping case reported in Anambra State earlier this year.

The suspect, identified as John Chinagorom, was apprehended on August 1, 2025, in Zaria, Kaduna State, following credible intelligence received by operatives of the Ozubulu Police Division in Anambra.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Chinagorom had been on the Command’s wanted list since April 15, 2025, in connection with a kidnapping case under active investigation.

“Upon receiving actionable intelligence that the suspect was sighted at PZ Park Road in Zaria, Kaduna State, a team of detectives from Ozubulu Division was immediately dispatched,” Ikenga stated. “With the support of officers from the Kaduna State Police Command, the suspect was successfully traced and arrested at his hideout.”

The suspect is currently in police custody and is said to be cooperating with investigators.

SP Ikenga also noted that the arrest demonstrates the effectiveness of inter-state collaboration and intelligence sharing among security agencies. He added that ongoing investigations are expected to yield further insights into the suspect’s network and other possible accomplices.

Meanwhile, the general security situation in Anambra remains calm, with joint patrols and crime prevention operations actively in place across the state.

Further updates on the investigation and any subsequent charges will be made available in due course, the police assured.
