The 10th Senate’s leadership race got under way amid raucousness in the National Assembly’s upper house.

The election for the senate’s presiding officers was launched by Sani Tambuwal, the National Assembly’s clerk.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) congressman from Akwa Ibom North West, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and Senator Abdulaziz Yari, an APC lawmaker from Zamfara North West, are the two candidates vying for the position of third citizen.

Senator Ali Ndume from Borno South, nominated Akpabio while Senator Elisha Abbo from Adamawa North nominated Yari.

No sooner than he nominated Yari than some lawmakers started protesting but Abbo stood his ground while shouting on top of his voice.

He challenged those opposed to Yari’s nomination to go to court.
