After Offensive operation, Boko Haram Leader Bochu Abacha Surrenders to MNJTF

In a significant breakthrough in the fight against terrorism in the Lake Chad region, a notorious Boko Haram member, Bochu Abacha, has surrendered to troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Kukawa Local Government, Borno State.

Abacha, known for his involvement in multiple terrorist operations along the Monguno-Baga axis, revealed that he made the decision to surrender due to the intense operations conducted by the MNJTF and a growing lack of interest in continuing his involvement with the group. He escaped from a Boko Haram camp in Mussaram, bringing with him an AK-47 rifle and additional ammunition.

Items confiscated from Abacha include one loaded magazine containing 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a mobile phone with an AIRTEL SIM card, and cash amounting to Thirty-Two Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N32,500). He is currently assisting authorities by providing valuable intelligence.

In a separate operation, MNJTF troops in Gubio executed a successful ambush on Boko Haram terrorists transporting a significant logistics supply in three Toyota vehicles under the cover of night. Acting on intelligence regarding the terrorists’ crossing point, the troops engaged in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the death of one terrorist and the retreat of others into nearby forests, abandoning a large cache of supplies.

The recovered items from this operation include the three Toyota vehicles, which were loaded with assorted food items and other sundry goods, along with a small sum of Two Thousand Naira (N2,000).

This series of operations underscores the MNJTF’s ongoing commitment to combating the threats posed by Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents in the region.
