FG Plans 4,000 Influencers to Showcase Tinubu’s Infrastructure Projects
The Federal Government plans to mobilise 4,000 social media influencers to showcase its infrastructure projects and communicate the administration’s achievements to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja while receiving a report from the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) following its inspection of federal road projects in Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna and Sokoto states.
Umahi said the proposed influencer network would help the government communicate directly with Nigerians, particularly young people, about ongoing projects across the country.
“We have to fight this social media war. So, we have to launch 4,000 social media influencers to tell our stories,” the minister said.
He said he was proud of the administration’s infrastructure projects and the gains recorded in various sectors, stressing the need for the government to communicate its achievements more effectively.
On infrastructure around tertiary institutions, Umahi said the ministry would consider constructing pedestrian bridges on roads leading to university campuses, following concerns raised by NANS during its inspection tour.
The minister also disclosed that the 105-kilometre pavement section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway currently under construction is expected to be completed by November.
He, however, expressed concern over vandalism along the highway, alleging that people were destroying infrastructure, cutting iron materials, damaging block walls and removing covers.
Umahi commended the students for independently inspecting federal projects, saying Nigerians should assess public infrastructure directly rather than relying solely on reports about government projects.
