Lagos State government has announced the deaths of two persons who died of coronavirus complications in the state.
Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, in a statement on Tuesday via his verified Twitter handle said one of the deceased was a 45-year-old Nigerian male who returned from India in January, while the other; a 36-year-old Nigerian; female who had severe underlying health condition. ‘She had no history of travel or contact with any #COVID19 confirmed case,’ he added.
The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the state now stands at 16.
Abayomi tweeted: “No new case of #COVID19 was confirmed in Lagos on 20th April, 2020.
“However, #COVID19 related deaths were recorded in Lagos. One of the deceased was a 45 years old Nigerian male who returned from India in January, 2020.
“The second death involved a 36 year old Nigerian; female with severe underlying health condition. She had no history of travel or contact with any #COVID19 confirmed case.
“Total number of #COVID19 related deaths in Lagos now stands at 16.
“I urge you all to remain vigilant and report any concern about #COVID19 infection in our communities by calling 08000CORONA.
