He notably, on March 24, 2024, troops rescued 137 students from Kuriga primary school in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State, who had been abducted earlier.

“This rescue effort showcased the dedication and effectiveness of the troops in tackling security challenges,” Gen. Buba added.

According to him, troops conducted offensive operations in different regions, according to military reports, killing 62 terrorists, arresting 12 others, and rescuing 162 kidnapped hostages.

“The recoveries included a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition, motorcycles, and mobile phones, among other items, which dealt a significant blow to terrorist activities in the affected areas,” he said.

“Additionally, the air component of Operation HADARIN DAJI carried out strategic air interdictions, targeting terrorists’ enclaves and logistics bases in Safana LGA and Batsari LGA of Katsina State, resulting in the elimination of numerous terrorists and destruction of their infrastructure.

“Meanwhile, Operation WHIRL PUNCH also recorded notable successes during the week under review. Troops conducted offensive operations, arrested violent extremists, kidnappers, and raided hideouts in various locations, including Kachia LGA of Kaduna State, Ajaokuta LGA of Kogi State, and Bwari Area Council of FCT Abuja.
