OpenAI has launched GPT-5, its most advanced AI model yet, as weekly usage of ChatGPT exceeds 700 million users worldwide. The company describes GPT-5 as its “smartest, fastest, most useful” model to date, promising major improvements in reasoning, speed, accuracy, and structured thinking.

Sean Bruich, Senior Vice President of AI and Data at Amgen, noted that GPT-5 delivers increased accuracy, reliability, and performance in internal workflows, particularly when navigating complex and ambiguous data.

OpenAI says GPT-5 offers faster, more context-aware responses and is ideal for high-stakes applications such as software development, customer service, research, and strategic planning. The model is now available to ChatGPT Team users, with rollout to Enterprise and Edu customers expected next week. Developers can also access GPT-5 via the OpenAI API, while a premium GPT-5 Pro version is set to launch soon with extended reasoning features.
