Veteran Nigerian actress, Genevieve Nnaji has slammed Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for barring protesters calling for reform of the Nigeria Police and an end to brutality in the state.

Governor Wike had, in a statement on Monday, barred residents from engaging in any peaceful protest in the state.

The Governor had said there was no need for the protest since the Federal Government had disbanded the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). he added that anyone who participates in the protest will be made to face the law.

However, reacting via her Twitter handle on Tuesday, Genevieve described Wike’s statement as a shame, noting that he had the choice to be any kind of leader but chose to act like a dictator.

“Your mustache says it all. You could have chosen to be any kind of leader you wanted. You chose to be a dictator,” she wrote.

“Do you have children? That’s a shame. LEADERS WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE for every loss of innocent life in their State. #ENDSARSOPPRESSION #EndSarsNow.”

In another tweet, the actress noted that she was proud of the youth for holding the leaders to account.

Loving the energy of the youth. Keep fighting for a better Nigeria✊🏿. Never been prouder to be one.🇳🇬❤️#SARSMUSTGONOW #EndPoliceBrutality

Meanwhile, despite the order by the Rivers Governor, protesters still trooped out in their numbers.
