Lagos State Government announced the discharge of 26 coronavirus patients, including a 98-year-old woman who tested negative twice for the deadly disease.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the state governor, who made the disclosure on Wednesday via his Twitter handle, said she is the oldest patient to be discharged from the state.

Sanwo-Olu tweeted: “Today, we discharged a 98 year old woman, our oldest #COVID19 patient in Lagos. She joined 25 others; 13 males and 12 females, discharged from our isolation centres after testing negative for #COVID19, bringing the total of our successfully managed and discharged patients to 528.”

Meridian Spy had reported yesterday Wednesday the discharge of the 26 COVID-19 patients. Six of the new COVID-19 patients who recovered from the virus disease were discharged from the Infectious Disease Hospital, IDH, Yaba, 11 from Onikan and nine from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH isolation centre.

51 new COVID-19 cases were also confirmed in the state, out of the 184 new cases in the country announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC on Wednesday night. This takes the total number of recorded cases in Lagos to 2,041.

The governor however reminded residents in the state, even as the frontline health workers continue to sacrifice and push through, to play their roles by following the public health guidelines, observing physical distancing and wearing our face masks.

“As our frontline health workers continue to sacrifice and push through, let us play our roles by following the public health guidelines, observing physical distancing and wearing our face masks,” he tweeted.
