Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the Saturday presidential election.

Declaring the winner of the election in the wee hours of Wednesday, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, said Tinubu fulfilled all the requirements to be so declared.

He got over 8.7m votes which is about 35 percent of the votes cast.

Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) came second and third respectively.

Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, who attended the declaration ceremony are therefore scheduled to collect their certificates of return by 3pm on Wednesday.

Details later.
