The Benue State Police Command has recovered a newborn baby allegedly stolen from his mother at a hospital in Gboko and arrested several suspects linked to the incident.
According to the police spokesperson, DSP Peter Aondona, the baby was allegedly taken from his mother just a few hours after she gave birth on Tuesday.
Several suspects have been arrested. Some were transferred to the state police headquarters in Makurdi, while others remain in custody at the Gboko Division as investigations continue.
The recovery of the baby brings some relief to the family, while police investigations are expected to establish how the newborn was taken and identify everyone involved.
