Traffic was heavily disrupted on the Gbagada Expressway in Lagos on Thursday after two separate accidents involving trucks, trailers and other vehicles caused major congestion along the busy corridor.
According to PUNCH, one accident involved two major trucks, while a second crash further along the expressway, around Charlie Boy, involved two trailers and five other vehicles.
Officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) responded to both scenes with tow trucks and a forklift to clear the wreckage. One of the trucks from the first crash had been removed, while efforts continued to clear the other. At the second scene, the five affected vehicles had already been evacuated, but the two trailers were still obstructing the road.
The accidents resulted in a heavy build-up of traffic, slowing movement along the Gbagada Expressway as emergency and traffic officials worked to restore normal flow.
