The National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) is partnering with relevant stakeholders on a nationwide effort to clean up Nigeria’s inland waterways and improve the safety and sustainability of the country’s aquatic environment.
The initiative is focused on tackling waste, pollution and other forms of environmental degradation along Nigeria’s waterways, while promoting cleaner and safer waterways for transportation, fishing and other economic activities.
The partnership also highlights the need for stronger collaboration between government agencies, private organisations and communities in protecting Nigeria’s waterways.
