Residents of Mollah Town and surrounding communities in Adamawa State now have a reason to smile. On Wednesday, the Nigerian Navy commissioned the Mollah Primary Health Care Centre under the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Quick Impact Project (CNS-SQIP).
The facility, facilitated by Rear Admiral Kohath Gyelpanyi Levi, is part of the Navy’s sustained effort to improve access to quality primary healthcare while strengthening civil–military cooperation in host communities.
Ahead of the commissioning, Rear Admiral Levi paid a courtesy visit to the Tol Hulba, His Royal Majesty Tol Alheri Bulus Nyako. The visit reinforced the Navy’s respect for traditional institutions and highlighted the importance of local ownership and community engagement for the sustainability of development projects.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by top dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, senior government officials, traditional rulers, and representatives from neighbouring communities. The Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, was represented by Pharmacist Zirra Mathias Bubanani, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Human Services.
Speaking at the event, the Director of Policy, Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral Adamu Yahaya, representing the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, said the health centre would serve as a first point of care, reduce preventable diseases, and improve maternal and child health outcomes.
Community leaders and beneficiaries described the project as timely and impactful. Many expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Navy for directly addressing the health challenges faced by rural residents.
“The Navy has brought healthcare to our doorstep,” said a local resident. “For years, we struggled to access basic medical care. Now, our children and mothers have a place to receive attention.”
The development underscores the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to people-centred initiatives that complement government efforts in primary healthcare delivery. Through CNS-SQIP, the Navy continues to make meaningful contributions to grassroots development, community wellbeing, and civil–military harmony in Adamawa State.
