The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa wrongly tackled the All Progressive Congress (APC) for not including a single woman into the composition of its primary election panel in Edo State.

The APC National Working Committee (NWC), in a statement signed by spokesperson, Lanre Issa-Onilu on Wednesday, had named its panel for the conduct of its Edo governorship primary which should be ongoing as at the time of this report, with Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma as chairman and Senator Ajibola Bashiru as Secretary of the committee.

Others are Alh. Abdullahi Abass, Hon. Ibrahim Sabo, Hon. Ocho Obioma, Hajia Amina Lantana Muhammed and Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye.

The Edo chapter of the APC announced, in a tweet on Sunday, the arrival of the seven-man committee.

“Members of the Edo State Primary Election Committee led by Hope Uzodimma have arrived Benin City ahead of tomorrow’s exercise,” the tweet read.

In reaction, Dabiri-Erewa expressed surprise over the non-inclusion of a woman on the committee.

“Na wa o. APC. Not a single woman ? Haba !!!” she tweeted.

Hours after, Senator Bashiru refuted her claims, noting that the information is not true and shared a photo of a woman in the panel.

Subsequently, the Edo APC clarified that the file photo she saw was taken in Abuja immediately after inauguration of the Committee.

The NIDCOM boss responded to the senator, “Thank you @DrSRJ_ . Glad with your response and explanation ( there is a woman who joined later as seen in the pic) and best wishes in this onerous task ahead.”

To the Edo APC, she responded, “Thank you . Explanation by @DrSRJ_ noted There is indeed a woman who joined the team later . Best wishes. The task ahead is daunting.”

Recently Dabiri-Erewa was engaged in a verbal war with Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami  over the forced eviction of NIDCOM staff from their office at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

She had accused Pantami of chasing the workers away because he did not have respect for women.
