The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC has warned citizens to desist from reports claiming drinking palm oil can stop the spread of coronavirus.

An information had been circulating social media with the claim that palm oil has been confirmed and tested as a possible remedy to stop the spread of the virus.

But the NCDC, in a Twitter post on Thursday, labelled the information as false and urged citizens to protect themselves and loved ones by adhering strictly to guidance from public health authorities and avoid the spread of false information.

The health agency tweeted: “The claim that drinking palm oil can stop the spread of #COVID19 is FALSE.

“To protect yourselves and loved ones from #COVID19 please adhere to guidance from public health authorities and avoid the spread of false information #TakeResponsibility.”
