The Natasha Akpoti Foundation, founded by the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party SDP in the 2019 election in Kogi State, Akpoti Natasha, donated three ventilators to the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, to help tackle the coronavirus pandemic in the state.

In a tweet on Friday, Akpoti noted that the donation was prompted upon the knowledge that Kogi had no ventilator at this #COVIDー19 pandemic period.

She tweeted: “With gratitude to God my foundation donated 3 ventilators to Federal Medical center Lokoja, Kogi st.

“This was prompted upon the knowledge that Kogi had no ventilator at this #COVIDー19 pandemic.

“Natasha Akpoti #GoodFriday#COVID19.”

While Nigeria has 318 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 70 discharged and 10 deaths spread across 19 states in the country, Kogi is one of the 17 states yet to record any case of the disease.

However, Akpoti said despite ‘there is no recorded case of COVID-19 in Kogi, but it does not mean we should fold our hands only to act at the 11th hour. It is a proactive measure to ensure that whenever any patient surfaces, these facilities would be offered free of charge.’

She added: “Beyond this Coronavirus pandemic, I hope these facilities will be of service to patients in need of respiratory aid. “My desire is that these ventilators would be rendered free of charge.”
