The Kano State Hospitals Management Board has opened a full-scale investigation into alleged misconduct at the Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital.
The probe follows a complaint about the hospital’s operations, prompting the Executive Secretary, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda, to order a clinical audit of all staff on duty during the incident.
In a statement by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Samira Suleiman, Dr. Nagoda also directed a review of CCTV footage from the Emergency Unit.
She said the Chief Medical Director and the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee were already on-site supervising the investigation.
“All personnel on duty during the night of the incident have been summoned before the Disciplinary Action Committee,” she quoted Dr. Nagoda as saying. “Any staff member found culpable will face sanctions without hesitation.”
The management was given 48 hours to submit its report.
“No one will be spared if found wanting, except those cleared by the committee after due process,” she added.
The development comes after Hikima Radio reported that some doctors allegedly abandoned patients at night in the hospital’s Emergency Department.
