United States President, Donald Trump, has announced the approval of chloroquine for use as a treatment against the coronavirus.

Chloroquine is a medication used to prevent and treat malaria in areas where malaria is known to be sensitive to its effects.

Trump said on Thursday that: “We’re going to be able to make that drug available almost immediately, and that’s where the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has been so great.

“They’ve gone through the approval process — it’s been approved. They took it down from many, many months to immediate. So, we’re going to be able to make that drug available by prescription.”
