The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has highlighted common errors that candidates sitting for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) should avoid when creating their profiles.
JAMB has repeatedly advised candidates to ensure that the personal information they provide is accurate and consistent with their National Identification Number (NIN) records before beginning the profile-creation process. Incorrect NIN details can lead to avoidable problems during registration and the examination process.
Among the common profile-code problems identified by the board are “Record Not Found,” “Wrong Parameter,” an NIN already linked to another GSM number, and temporary inability to verify an NIN. Candidates are advised to use the correct SMS format and, where necessary, visit NIMC or JAMB offices for resolution rather than creating another profile.
JAMB has also warned candidates against double registration, using multiple NINs, providing incorrect biodata and sharing profile codes or security details with third parties. Registration errors should be corrected through the appropriate JAMB process rather than by submitting another application.
