Amid the incessant attacks and killings by terrorists and criminal bandits in the country, especially in the North East and North West, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.Gen. Tukur Buratai said the Commander-in-Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari is not disappointed with him and other service chiefs’ performance in the fight against the insurgents since their appointment in 2015.

Recall the President, weeks ago expressed his dismay over the performance of his security chiefs in tackling the rising level of insecurity in the country.

MERIDIAN SPY reported the National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (retd.) told State House correspondents after a security briefing that the president was unhappy with the current state of security in the country.

According to Munguno, the President admitted that although the nation’s service chiefs are trying to tackle the security challenges being experienced across the country, but stated that their best isn’t good enough.

Buhari had also expressed worry over the lack of synergy amongst security forces and charged the various aspects of the security architecture to work together to solve the nation’s security challenges.

But in a meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, at the Nigerian Army Super camp four located in Faskari, Katsina State, Buratai denied the reports.

“Exactly five years ago, I was in Ndjamena, Chad Republic, when I heard the announcement of General Olanisakin as the Chief of Defence Staff as well as my own appointment as Chief of Army Staff,” he said.

“We are grateful to Almighty God for giving us good health to lead the armed forces. It is a thing of joy to say that we are quite grateful to the President and Commander-in- Chief of Armed Forces for this honour, and assure you that we have not disappointed President Muhammadu Buhari in carrying out our responsibilities. We have not disappointed Nigerians.”
