The Federal Government is working on a new regulatory framework for Nigeria’s housing sector following its contribution of ₦77 trillion to the nation’s economy, as authorities seek to strengthen standards and promote sustainable growth.

Officials said the proposed regulations are aimed at improving transparency, enhancing quality assurance and creating a more structured environment for housing development, investment and real estate transactions.

The government also noted that the initiative is expected to attract more private sector participation, improve consumer protection and support efforts to reduce the country’s housing deficit through better policy implementation.

Stakeholders believe a stronger regulatory framework could boost investor confidence, encourage affordable housing projects and further position the real estate sector as a key driver of economic growth.
