A twin explosion, Thursday, has left three supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State injured after an improvised substance suspected to be dynamite exploded at the popular Igboukwu field, the venue of the rally.

Two of the injured, said to be women, were rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

The cause of the explosion was sketchy as of press time, but a resident, who pleaded anonymity said, “The explosion came with a loud bang and some persons were injured. The party officials had an altercation with the youths of the community over access to the venue of the rally before the explosion occurred.”

Rivers State Publicity Secretary of APC, Darlington Nwauju, confirmed the incident, describing it as “unfortunate”.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, said a statement on the incident would be issued.
