Ekiti State Government has shut down the operations of some pharmacy stores and supermarkets located in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, indefinitely for violating various coronavirus guidelines in the state.

Prof. Bolaji Aluko, Ekiti COVID-19 Response Task Force Coordinator, confirmed this in a statement issued on Sunday, noting that the closure of the businesses followed “scrupulous inspections” which was carried out by the team on Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15.

Stressing that the COVID-19 guidelines issued are for the health and safety of residents in the state, Aluko urged the people to ensure institutions that serve them comply with simple preventive protocols such as “the usage of infra-red thermometers, functional water/sanitizer stands, mask-wearing by all staff and patrons, and social distancing” within their premises.

The statement reads: “For violating various #COVID19 guidelines and following scrupulous inspections on Friday/Saturday, August 14/15, 2020 by the Ekiti COVID-19 Taskforce compliance unit, the following institutions in Ado-Ekiti have been closed to operations to the public until further notice:

“1. Chino Supermarket, Ikere Road 2. Babatola Shopping Complex, Ikere Road 3. NAO Supermarket, Adebayo Road 4. Beta Life Pharmacy, Adebayo Road 5. Twin Pharmacy, Fajuyi Area 6. Prosperous Club 7. Bana Place 8. Peppersoup Joint opposite Ologede Police Station, beside Queen’s Court, Ado Ekiti.

“The public is urged to ensure and advise that institutions that serve them obey the simple guidelines of usage of infra-red thermometers, functional water/sanitizer stands, mask-wearing by all staff and patrons, and social distancing within the premises.
