Monday May 25 and Tuesday May 26 have been declared by the Federal Government as public holiday to mark the Eid-El-Fitr celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola made the announcement on Thursday.

Aregbesola congratulated all Muslim faithful for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and urged them to replicate the life of kindness, love, tolerance, peace and good neighborliness, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

The minister expressed concern over the spate of ethnic conflicts that have resurfaced in some parts of Northern Nigeria in recent times and advised Nigerians to see themselves as a single entity and thus learn to tolerate one another despite their ethnic and religious differences.

Meanwhile the Central Bank of Nigeria has rescheduled its May 2020 monetary policy committee, MPC meeting earlier slated to hold on Monday and Tuesday.

The apex bank, on Thursday, announced via its verified Twitter handle that the MPC will now hold on Thursday May 28, due to the public holiday on Monday and Tuesday to mark the Eid-El-Fitr celebration.

“CBN reschedules May 2020 #MPC Meeting earlier scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, May 25 and 26, 2020, respectively to now hold on Thursday, May 28, 2020. This is as a result of the declaration of Monday and Tuesday, May 25 and 26, 2020, as Eid-el Fitr holidays,” CBN tweeted.
