Former chief of staff and Son-in-law to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, Mr Uche Nwosu has successfully concluded his defection process to Action Alliance (AA).

Following his defection, Mr Nwosu has been automatically made the AA’s gubernatorial flabearer ahead of the 2019 governorship election in Imo State, MERIDIAN SPY, has reliably gathered.

A close source in the Action Aliance, AA, leadership in Imo State told MERIDIAN SPY that negotiation with Action Alliance began on Wednesday with several meetings which involved the party learnership and men of Mr Nwosu’s camp. The process was however concluded on Thursday after agreeing to some waivers and concessions to the benefits of the former Imo chief of staff.

Mr Nwosu’s defection to Action Alliance came after his initial move to decamp to the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, which was apparently to enable him become the party’s governorship flag bearer in the state was greeted with stiff resistance by some stalwarts of the party.

Furthermore, MERIDIAN SPY, reliably gathered that Mr Nwosu’s intention to foist his loyalists as DPP candidates ahead of the 2019 general elections was the straw that broke the camel’s back and eventually stalled his move into the party’s fold.

Mr Nwosu desperately found his way to the Action Alliance, AA, and was made the the gubernatorial flag bearer of the party with the influence of his father in-law, Mr Rochas Okorocha.

Consequently, Hon. Acho Ihim, Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly was upheld as the party’s consensus candidate for the deputy governor’s position.

MERIDIAN SPY can exclusively report that Mr Uche Nwosu’s last-minute defection resolve was a plot by Governor Rochas Okorocha to frustrate the chances of his political foes in other political parties from blazing the trail in the governorship election in the state. Mr Okorocha, after weighing all available options with advices from his political pundits resorted to playing the ” spoil it all” card.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC had on 31st of October, 2018 upheld the candidacy of Sen. Hope Uzodinma as its party’s governorship flag bearer in Imo State instead of Governor Okorocha’s son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, who had also emerged from a parrallel primary elections conducted by Okorocha’s faction of APC in Imo.

  • Jilli Airstrike: Supporters Of Terrorists Will Be Treated As Bandits, Defence Minister Warns Defence Minister Christopher Musa has warned that supporters of terrorists would be treated as criminals. He said this on Monday as he reacted to the airstrike carried out by the Nigerian Air Force airstrike in Jilli, Borno State, over the weekend. Speaking after an expanded security meeting in Kaduna with the state governor and heads of security agencies, Musa said the operation sends a clear message to those collaborating with terrorist groups. He stressed that anyone found supporting insurgents would face the same consequences as the perpetrators. “A friend of a thief is a thief,” he said, warning civilians against associating with or providing any form of assistance to terrorists. Musa urged residents to steer clear of areas known to be used by insurgents, noting that proximity or collaboration could have grave consequences. The airstrike, carried out near the village of Jilli in Gubio Local Government Area, targeted what the military described as an ISWAP enclave and logistics hub. According to the Nigerian Air Force, the operation was intelligence-driven and aimed at neutralising terror elements and destroying their equipment. However, reports have emerged alleging that the strike may have affected a weekly market in the area, with civilians, including cross-border traders, reportedly among casualties. Musa, however, maintained that the strike should serve as a strong warning to those aiding insurgent activities, reaffirming the military’s resolve to intensify operations against terrorist networks. Air Component of Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, conducted a precision air strike on a known terrorist enclave and logistics hub located near the abandoned village of Jilli in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State. Giving an update on the airstrike, the Nigerian Army in a post on its official X handle said, “The successful strike, executed on 11 April 2026, followed sustained intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions over the Bindul–Jilli axis, an area long identified as a major terrorist movement corridor and convergence point for Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists and their collaborators.”
