Kenya Suspends Importation Of Used Clothes Over Coronavirus

Kenya has banned the importation of used clothes, popularly known as “mitumba”, in the country to prevent the spread of coronavirus pandemic in the country.

According to the country’s Trade Minister, Betty Maina, the suspension begins with immediate effect to safeguard the health of Kenyans and promote local textiles in the country. Daily Nation newspaper reports.

The trade minister met with second-hand clothes dealers and encouraged them to source goods from local manufacturers.
