The co-chairman of Kano State coronavirus task force, Prof Abdulrazaq Garba Habib has tested positive for the disease.

A source revealed to newsmen on Friday stating: “It is true but rather sad Professor Abdulrazaq tested positive for COVID-19. He is already admitted at the isolation centre for comprehensive management.”

Abdulrazaq, an epidemiologist who was actively involved in rapid response to all the confirmed cases in Kano, was said to have contracted the virus during clinical services, a senior member of the task force said in confidence.

The Kano COVID-19 task force was inaugurated by the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje on March 21 with the sole aim of ensuring effective preparation against the pandemic in the state.
