Two new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Nasarawa State in addition to the index case.

The Governor, Abdullahi Sule, while briefing journalists on COVID-19 at the Government House on Thursday, disclosed that the new patients were females.

Sule explained that the two new cases are returnees from Lagos, adding that they tested positive to COVID-19 from samples of 40 who returned from Lagos and are in isolation.

He stated: “Since the advent of COVID-19, Nasarawa state has taken measures to curtail the spread of the pandemic in the state and one of the measures is to isolate our citizens who are returning from high risk states.

“Currently, we have 40 of such people who are quarantined at the State Polytechnics Lafia.

“We took samples of those who showed symptoms of COVID-19, a total of 14 samples were taken and two of them are positive, that makes a total of 3.

“We have moved all of them from the State Polytechnics to Dalhatu Arab Specialist (DASH)Hospital Lafia, 11 contacts of the index cases are isolated at DASH, their sample are taken and we are waiting for the result.”
