The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has granted Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Philip Shaibu waiver to contest the party’s governorship primary election in the state.

PDP spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan made the disclosure on Friday via his official Twitter handle.

“@OfficialPDPNig grants waiver for @GovernorObaseki to enable him contest the gubernatorial primary of our great party. Party has also approved waiver for his deputy, Philip Shuaibu,” Ologbondiyan tweeted.

This comes hours after the governor and his deputy announced their decision to defect to the main opposition PDP.

The party’s primary election was yesterday postponed to Tuesday June 23.

More details soon.
