Contrary to wide reports that President Muhammadu Buhari will address Nigerians on Monday, special adviser on media and publicity to the President, Femi Adesina has said it will not hold and that there was no plans for it initially.

Meridian Spy had reported Sunday, the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force, PTF on COVID-19, Dr. Aliyu Dani disclosed on a TV programme on Channels Television the President will give a nationawide broadcast to speak about the government’s ongoing efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus and to decide whether or not the country should go ahead with the second phase of the easing of the lockdown.

But in a terse message on Monday, Adesina debunked the report via his Twitter handle, stating, “No presidential broadcast on COVID-19 updates today. None was planned. Rather, the Presidential Task Force will during its usual media briefings bring the nation up to speed on the next steps.”
