The Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri, Imo State, has affirmed Duoye Diri as the duly elected governor of Bayelsa State.

Timi Alaibe, an aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, had filed a suit challenging the emergence of Diri as the legitimate winner of the party’s primaries held on September 3, 2019 and described the election as ‘a flawed process’.

But the court on Tuesday threw away the suit filed by former PDP Bayelsa governorship aspirant for lacking in merit and upheld the earlier judgment of a Federal High Court in Owerri.

More details soon.
