The Benue State Government says ongoing rural road construction projects are improving access to markets for farmers, easing the transportation of agricultural produce and supporting economic activities across rural communities.

According to state officials, the road projects have reduced travel time, lowered transportation costs and made it easier for farmers to move goods from farms to urban markets. The improved road network is also expected to reduce post-harvest losses by ensuring quicker delivery of farm produce.

The government noted that the initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the state’s agricultural sector, improve rural livelihoods and enhance food security. Officials added that better infrastructure would encourage increased agricultural production while attracting investment into farming communities.

Residents and farmers have reportedly welcomed the development, expressing optimism that the improved roads will boost commercial activities and raise household incomes.
