The Senate yesterday approved N1.4trn as 2021 and 2022 budgets of the Niger Delta Development Commission. Of the amount, N485.7bn is for the 2021 fiscal year; while N928.2bn is for 2022. The approval followed the consideration of a report by the Senate Ad hoc Committee on 2021 and 2022 budget estimates of NDDC at plenary. The immediate former president, Muhammadu Buhari, had earlier this year, asked the Senate to approve NDDC’s budgets for 2021, 2022 and 2023. Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has approved the appointments of officials expected to fill key positions in his administration. President Bola Tinubu has directed the Department of State Security Service to immediately vacate the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Ikoyi, Lagos. The President gave the directive on Tuesday when reports that DSS officials stormed the EFCC office located on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos on Tuesday, preventing officials of the anti-graft agency from accessing their work place, was brought to his attention. Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-rufai, has said his administration left behind financial liabilities to the tune of $577.32 million foreign debt, N64.54 billion domestic debt and Other Contingent Liabilities of N16.06 billion for the new governor, Senator Uba Sani. Pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, is now selling for between N600 and N680 per litre at different petrol stations where the product is available. Many filing stations which had sold the product on Monday did not open for business Tuesday morning after the newly-inaugurated President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, had declared that the era of fuel subsidy was over.
