The new governor of Sokoto State, Dr Ahmed Aliyu, has nullified the appointments of 23 permanent secretaries and 15 directors general made by his predecessor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. The governor, who assumed office around noon Tuesday, also suspended the 14 traditional rulers recently appointed by his predecessor. The traditional rulers include 13 district heads and the newly appointed Magajin Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Sama’ila Abdulkadir Mujeli. Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has approved the appointments of officials expected to fill key positions in his administration. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, the governor announced that he had chosen to retain the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal. President Bola Tinubu has directed the Department of State Security Service to immediately vacate the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Ikoyi, Lagos. Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-rufai, has said his administration left behind financial liabilities to the tune of $577.32 million foreign debt, N64.54 billion domestic debt and Other Contingent Liabilities of N16.06 billion for the new governor, Senator Uba Sani. Pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, is now selling for between N600 and N680 per litre at different petrol stations where the product is available. Many filing stations which had sold the product on Monday did not open for business Tuesday morning after the newly-inaugurated President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, had declared that the era of fuel subsidy was over.
